“Every year tens of thousands of people get great pleasure in visiting a farm. They come to simply enjoy the countryside or to learn more about where their food comes from." - Fifth Open Farm Sunday a Fantastic Success!
Fantastic team work from farmers across the country, together with support from the food and farming industry and stakeholders, all contributed to make LEAF’s fifth Open Farm Sunday (13th June) a great success. Early results suggest that the around the same number of farms as 2009 opened and that between them, they welcomed more visitors than ever before. Support for this annual campaign came from the highest level with Defra ministers also attending events. - Playing at Farming Confuses the Country
Playing online farming games may be fun, but new research suggests that they are in fact disconnecting us from what happens on a real farm. One in ten of those adults who said they regularly play online farming games believe strawberry milkshake comes from either pink cows or cows eating strawberries , and over 11% expected to find rice growing on a British farm. - Jimmy and Michaela Doherty Launch Open Farm Sunday 2010
